Here are some of the fruits, veggies and greens my friends and I were eating this summer in Hawaii!
Rollinia, a white fleshed creamy fruit is especially delicious. It’s one of my favorites and very unusual looking! Tons of Papayas, lots of Mangos, Jackfruit comes and goes throughout the year, as do Sapotes and Guavas.
I was so relieved to be able to grow greens (and find them at the farmers markets) all summer long. Kale, Collards, Beets, Swiss Chard, Moringa, Purslane, herbs, Cucumbers, Zucchinis all keep growing in the hot months. Lettuce is a little challenging since it’s bolts in the warmer weather.
The many trays of micro greens (all types!!) my friend and I grew constantly all thrived, so I was set with sumptuous salads all summer long! Along with my favorite raw vegan creamy herb salad dressing, made with raw walnuts, garlic, lemon juice, sea salt, dates and a variety of fresh herbs from the garden.
