Giant WET Jujubee Jubilee

Happy & Healthy
Passionfruit!
Passionfruit!

Yesterday we had a big sopping WET Fruit Picking Adventure! It hasn’t rained in forever, but yesterday it poured.

First stop, we got a big box of Avocados, some fat juicy Limes and as a special surprise, big huge beautiful Pineapple Guavas!

Whoo Hoo!! I didn’t know they were ripe yet.

Then we went to our friend’s farm.

Thankfully we had just finished picking all our White Sapotes, crisp juicy Pears & Apples, rare Raspberry Jam filled Figs, tiny Strawberry Guavas, ruby red Tomatoes,

Passion fruit and spectacular Magenta Dragonfruit before it started to sprinkle.

We left the farm and drove to a SUPER cool fruit stand that sells the yummiest biggest fattest Jujubees ever. Omg!!

By now it was cold and wet with ominous clouds. We were shivering!

Usually it’s so hot & sunny my clown-white zinc oxide sunscreen is running down me like glacier melt.

The cashier was telling us funny stories about how they have to call the cops on people who jump the fence to pick their fruit. We laughed. Ha!!

But driving out of there, craning my neck to stare at all the HUGE plump jujubees in their glorious, magnificent orchard, tree after tree LOADED with with them, and hundreds of big soft fat jujubees covering the ground, that’s all I wanted to do.

Jump out of the car, vault over the fence (in spandex leggings, which could have been very bad) and pick as many jujubees as possible until I heard sirens. Ha!!!

Or got handcuffed and dragged away. Ha!!!!

They should have a You Pick option though, since it’s sooooo much more fun to hop around actual orchards picking out your own fruit, instead of just grabbing a handful from a bin like you’re in a grocery store.

Next stop, we went to my friend’s farm who also has jujubees, two beautiful trees, and his were at my favorite point of ripeness, soft, fat and chewy.

YUM!! I ate about 500, picked a bunch more and then we helped him whack a bunch more out of the tree with a giant stick, onto a canvas drop cloth.

It was getting wet and rainy and muddy. So we probably would have picked even more, but fruit picking isn’t as fun in mucky yucky cold wetness.

I wanted to roll around in that big sheet of jujubees but no one would have appreciated it, and I would have gotten even muddier than I already was. Ha!!

Plus there were a bunch of super cool beetles, wandering through the jujubee leaves, which I should have photographed.

We nicknamed one the Halloween Beetle, since he was bright orange & black. Really pretty! I guess beetles like jujubes too.

Last night I was SO excited about my Fruity Booty that I skipped my dinner salad (gasp!!) and feasted on Pineapple Guavas and Dragonfruit. Mmmm, heavenly!!!
